On January 13, 2021, Mace defended Rep. Liz Cheney from removal efforts, saying:
"We should not be silencing voices of dissent. That is one of the reasons we are in this today, is that we have allowed QAnon conspiracy theorists to lead us."
By May 2021, Mace reversed course, voting to oust Cheney from GOP leadership and simultaneously voting against the bipartisan January 6 commission she had reportedly previously called essential.
