On September 18, 2025, at a House Oversight Committee hearing, Mace addressed D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser:
"The government of the District of Columbia … has become a poster child for DEI and gender madness."
At the same hearing, when Bowser attempted to respond to Mace's questioning, Mace said:
"This is not her time. It's my time. You can be quiet as I ask you questions, and then you can answer them."
The exchange drew wide attention for Mace's conduct toward an elected city official testifying before Congress.
