During the House Oversight Committee hearing on July 22, 2024, examining the July 13 assassination attempt against Donald Trump at Butler, Pennsylvania, Mace confronted Director Kimberly Cheatle:
"You're full of shit today. You're just being completely dishonest… You are being dishonest, or lying. These are important questions that the American people want answers to. And you're just dodging and talking around in generalities."
That same evening Mace filed an unprecedented impeachment resolution against Cheatle. Cheatle resigned the following day.
