With four months left in her final term, Rep. Nancy Mace sat down with the We The Palmetto podcast on August 13, 2026, and previewed her post-Congress life. Her most candid moment came when she described the freedom she'll have to say whatever she wants once she leaves office:

"I do love the commentary, and I can say more now. Not that I had a filter before, but it's even more freeing and liberating now that I am not running again."

It was a rare self-aware admission: she ran for six years in Congress with no filter, and now she won't have one at all.

Business Plans, Ethics Constraints

Mace said she is legally blocked from making any employment commitments while still serving:

"I'm very limited in what I can explore right now. Members of Congress are not allowed to sign a contract for a gig or a job until after they've left Congress."

Once she's out, the plan is entrepreneurship:

"I love the business space. We'll probably start some companies."

No specifics on what those companies would be. Her existing media venture, the GET MACED podcast, launched with a branded studio setup in August 2026. Whether that counts as a pre-departure business arrangement has not been addressed publicly.

"Run Through the Tape"

Despite the lame-duck status, Mace insisted she's working until the end:

"I'm going to finish out my term as hard as I started. So we are still filing two to three bills a week, and I am going to run through the tape."

She closed with a constituent service appeal:

"If any constituents need anything from now until the end of the year, please, God, call my office."

Context

Mace did not seek re-election in 2026. The We The Palmetto podcast episode also covered Tuesday's South Carolina special primary results and runoff predictions. Mace called serving South Carolina "truly the honor of my life."

She has spent recent weeks commenting on WNBA transgender policies and Muslim candidates winning elections in Michigan, signaling the commentary lane she plans to occupy after January.
